Took down an old ceiling fan & replaced it with a new small light fixture. Replaced a standard duplex outlet with a new USB outlet. Replaced 2 Eaton CH breakers one 15A & one 20A & installed a new 3-way decora switch.
Chandeliers, pendants, recessed and LED lighting, under-cabinet and outdoor lights for homes across Raleigh, Cary, Apex and the Triangle, including high, hard-to-reach fixtures.

A well-hung fixture should look like it was always there. We install everything from a single vanity light to a kitchen full of recessed lights and pendants, including fixtures you’ve already bought.
Replacing a fixture on an existing box is the simplest job. We check the box is rated for the fixture’s weight, connect it, and make sure the switch and dimmer work with it.
Adding lights where there were none, such as recessed lights in a room built with one ceiling light, means running new wire and cutting in new boxes or slim LED fixtures.
High ceilings are their own job. Chandeliers and fixtures 16 to 18 feet up in two-story foyers and great rooms need the right ladders and a box that can carry the weight.
In one Chapel Hill home we replaced old recessed eyeball lights and yellowed trims with LED fixtures without opening the ceiling.
Replacing a fixture like for like usually doesn’t need a permit. Durham, for example, exempts like-for-like fixture replacement by a licensed contractor in one- and two-family homes. Adding new lights on new wiring generally does, and we pull it. Each town page lists the right office.
From our office in Cary, we serve homes and businesses across the Triangle, most often in Raleigh, Cary and Apex, and in nearby towns including Durham, Chapel Hill, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Fuquay-Varina and Wake Forest.
Yes. Adding recessed or new fixtures to plaster ceilings and older wiring is common for us. We check the existing circuit and box before installing anything new.
Yes. We regularly hang fixtures on 16- to 18-foot ceilings and make sure the box is rated for the fixture's weight.
Usually, yes. We use remodel-rated LED fixtures that install from below with minimal drywall repair.
Yes. We'll check that each fixture suits where it's going, like damp-rated fixtures for bathrooms and porches.

I am very pleased with Roy Electric as a whole. I had them go through all my outlets and switches, as well as lights and fixtures to make copper connections to what was mostly aluminum wiring throughout my house. They scheduled me quickly and got the work completed in a timely manner.
Hunter met with me first to go through the house and everything. He fixed an outlet on the spot and took the extra time to open and identify some outlets that that were already good, and this saved me some money. I have to give a big thank you and much praise to Spencer.
Spencer was my primary tech assigned to me. He is a huge asset to this company and I can't thank him enough for being so focused and truly putting in maximum effort on this job.
Spencer spent probably 8 or 9 hours in my attic, tracing wire from multiple junction boxes, replacing them all and making sure everything was traced properly. The way the boxes and wire were originally installed and ran were a total mess.
If you own a house that was built before 1970, It's very likely the way things were done back then and probably though the early 90s just weren't done to a very good and modern standard. I'd give these guys a call.

Bobby was an absolute delight. At 26 years old, he restored my faith in the future of the younger generation. He was technically qualified having 7 years of experience and was educational to me to help understand what was happening with my light switches no longer operating.
I would gladly call back Roy Electric and ask for Bobby for any of my future electrical needs.

Your go to when it comes to electrical issues. Trust me. It started with a simple pull of a chain that was “connected” to a smoke alarm. The first round of troubleshooting came up empty. Second round, fresh eyes, found the issue (no offense to the first time folks), fixed that issue.
Third time, same thing happened, not the chain, but the switch. Unplugging a shop vac, because the A/C decided it was time to quit (never ends)…R.E. sends Bobby back. This time he is at a loss as to what made this happen again. He calls for back-up. The Boss comes in.
Did some deep trouble shooting…AHA…of course it’s not even close to where all thought it would be. It was behind that panel, you know, that panel we so proudly flip a switch to reset that “breaker” and voila we did it! We made a light turn back on.
Little do we know that there are a gazillion wires behind this panel of switches. Where if one line, this so called neutral line(?) isn’t connected or wired correctly it creates havoc. Two lines at this #21 breaker.
One line shorter than the other but a smaller piece was added to make it same length so it could be together then to have a crack in that smaller wire. This not good. Things happen over time.
Bobby, his Boss, the two other gentlemen who worked this huge issue which turns out it was rather a small one, they could very well be “heroes”. Because I certainly am grateful for their knowledge. Their patience when I’m asking “how or why” does this happen.
We flip a switch, light goes on … light goes out…when this doesn’t happen sheer terror! Long story short, these folks know their stuff. Recommend them for any job that has to do with red green white black copper neutral wires … thank you.

I recently hired Roy's Electric for a second time in the last year and a half. Again, the two techs they sent were just great. Right on time, incredibly polite, very professional and very capable. I had several light fixtures to be removed and replacements to be installed.
The guys made sure the new fixtures were installed at the proper place and height before completing each fixture. The old fixtures were removed, and clean up after their work was thorough. On a more personal note, they were so kind to me and to my dog who is not a big fan of visitors.
They did their work well and timely while also engaging with the dog to make everyone more comfortable. Next time I need electrical work at my house, I won't look anywhere else. I highly recommend Roy's Electric for your electrical needs.

Took down an old ceiling fan & replaced it with a new small light fixture. Replaced a standard duplex outlet with a new USB outlet. Replaced 2 Eaton CH breakers one 15A & one 20A & installed a new 3-way decora switch.

We repaired a round fixture box that was holding a small chandelier. troubleshot a receptacle with no power.

On this job we were installing a new 20A dedicated circuit. The panel was located in the garage & our dedicated receptacle was located on the 2nd floor.

Installed a new light fixture in the master bathroom.
