Installed a new 60A direct wire Tesla EV charger & a new 60A Square D QO breaker!
Apex is next door to our Cary office. Most of our Apex work is in its newer neighborhoods, along with some older homes near downtown.

Apex is one of the newest towns we serve. Census figures put the median Apex home at 2008, and about 69% were built since 2000. Most of our Apex jobs are in those newer neighborhoods, including Woodcreek, Haddon Place, Kirkwood, Ellington Place and The Villages of Apex.
These homes have modern wiring, but they also have the devices that fail first in newer houses: AFCI and GFCI breakers and outlets that trip or stop resetting. They also have garages that are ready for EV chargers and tall ceilings that need fans, which we’ve hung as high as 18 feet in Apex great rooms.
About 27% of Apex homes date from these decades. Original panels and devices are now 25 to 45 years old, and panels that were never upgraded can carry old workarounds. In one Apex home we added a neutral bar to fix double-tapped neutrals we found during a switch repair.
Only about 4% of Apex homes are older than 1980. Some homes from the late 1960s and early 1970s have aluminum branch wiring, which needs connectors and devices rated for it.
EV chargers are one of our most common Apex jobs: Tesla Wall Connectors on 60-amp circuits and NEMA 14-50 outlets for plug-in chargers, usually from a garage panel. See EV charger installation.
Fan-light combos in bedrooms, fans on tall great-room ceilings, porch and deck lights, and floodlights. See lighting and ceiling fans.
New 20-amp circuits for upstairs rooms, floor outlets for living rooms, and GFCI protection in garages and outdoors. See outlets and circuits.
We replace overheating and failing breakers, correct panel problems left by earlier work, and handle new service equipment. See panel upgrades.
Electrical permits in Apex come from the Town of Apex’s Building Inspections & Permitting division, or from Wake County for homes outside town limits. Apex asks for inspections to be scheduled the day before, so we book them as soon as the work is ready.
Apex is unusual in the Triangle: the town has run its own electric utility since 1917, serving homes in town, parts of Cary and some rural areas. Some addresses in and around Apex are on Duke Energy instead. Which one serves you matters for meter work, service upgrades and EV charger programs, so we check before we start.

Wow! Spencer and Juan came to my home and were very knowledgeable about the issues I was having with my breaker box. They were also very prompt, kind and honest. Roy Electric highly recommend!

I am very pleased with Roy Electric as a whole. I had them go through all my outlets and switches, as well as lights and fixtures to make copper connections to what was mostly aluminum wiring throughout my house. They scheduled me quickly and got the work completed in a timely manner.
Hunter met with me first to go through the house and everything. He fixed an outlet on the spot and took the extra time to open and identify some outlets that that were already good, and this saved me some money. I have to give a big thank you and much praise to Spencer.
Spencer was my primary tech assigned to me. He is a huge asset to this company and I can't thank him enough for being so focused and truly putting in maximum effort on this job.
Spencer spent probably 8 or 9 hours in my attic, tracing wire from multiple junction boxes, replacing them all and making sure everything was traced properly. The way the boxes and wire were originally installed and ran were a total mess.
If you own a house that was built before 1970, It's very likely the way things were done back then and probably though the early 90s just weren't done to a very good and modern standard. I'd give these guys a call.

Did a fantastic job, changed out a 220V receptacle to one rated for 50 A. Rewired my panel to make it work and ensured had the right size wire.

Installed a new 60A direct wire Tesla EV charger & a new 60A Square D QO breaker!

Install EV Charger, new wiring. Replaced switch with GFCI receptacle.

TS 2-pole 20amp breaker for well pump. Breaker was not fully installed onto bus bar. We installed breaker and tested for voltage.

Installed new Tesla 60A EV Charger!

Came out to troubleshoot two counter top receptacles on a dedicated circuit in this commercial building which were not working. Opened receptacles up and verified no power was getting to them.

After identifying issues with the existing aluminum wiring, we replaced all outdated devices and successfully spliced the aluminum wiring to copper wiring for improved safety and efficiency.

Replaced old NEMA device with a new NEMA 14-50R, re stripped spliced & extended the 6awg wire that had been melted. Installed a new 2-gang box with the new NEMA 14-50R & a new cover plate & put the new device on a 50A Eaton BR breaker.

Troubleshot ring cameras not working.
Most homes in Apex get their power from the Town of Apex's own electric utility, which has served the town since 1917. Some addresses in and around Apex are on Duke Energy instead. Your power bill shows which one you have.

Yes, and it should be fixed before you charge again. We replaced a melted NEMA 14-50 outlet in Apex, cut back and re-stripped the damaged 6-gauge wire, and mounted the new outlet in a proper box. A melted outlet usually means a loose connection or a low-quality device, so we check the breaker and the whole run, not just the outlet.
Some do, mostly homes built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In a Waterford Green home we replaced the outdated devices and spliced the aluminum wiring to copper with approved connectors, which makes it safe without rewiring the house.
